It is a pleasure and honour to invite you to attend the Regional Conference on Geomorphology, 2023, which will be held in person on 12-14 September 2023 in Cappadocia, Türkiye.
The Turkish Society for Geomorphology will organise the regional conference, which will be hosted by Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, located in the heart of Cappadocia.
Before the conference, a field trip starting from İstanbul will allow participants to explore the historical, and natural beauty of the Bosphorus and the earthquake ruptures along the North Anatolian Fault Zone, uplifted fluvial and marine terraces, the Black Sea coast and the northernmost point of Türkiye. During and after the conference, participants will have plenty of time to explore the wonders of the geodiversity of Cappadocia, from fairy chimneys to Maar Lakes, rhyolitic domes to sinkholes, and river terraces to the volcanic lava flow, and salt lake to badlands. Cappadocia is not only an open-air laboratory of geomorphology but also a cultural hotspot since early times. Underground cities and churches along the Ihlara Valley are only a few of them, showing how human beings used geomorphology.
We encourage researchers, especially at the early stages of their careers, to participate intensive courses following the conference. Top researchers from Turkey will give intensive courses about UAV and Sattelite Based Advanced Geomorphic Mapping and absolute dating of landforms and deposits by using Cosmogenic Surface Exposure and Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating with practices in the field.
We warmly invite geomorphologists from all over the World and contribute to an exciting conference in the stimulating environment of Cappadocia. The Turkish Society for Geomorphology is looking forward to welcoming you to Türkiye.
